D.M.D A native of Alberta, Dr. Richard Palmer has been practicing dentistry in Calgary for the past 30 years. He received both his B.Sc. and D.D.S. degrees from the University of Alberta, as well as a degree in medicine from the University of Calgary. As a general dentist, Dr. Palmer focuses his treatment primarily on endodontic (root canal) treatments. While putting himself through school, Dr. Palmer worked as a garbage man and as a ‘jug hound’ for a seismic company that worked in the high arctic. He has come a long way since then, and his patients are appreciative! When Dr. Palmer is not busy serving his patients, he has a passion for cooking and finding new recipes, which he shares with his lovely and devoted wife and the greatest of his accomplishments – his five wonderful children. Dr. Palmer is pleased to be a member of the Chinook Smiles team and looks forward to working with…

Their FAQ
Answers from their website.
What costs will my insurance company cover?
Each policy differs drastically, and your benefits may change from time to time. Please provide our administrative staff with your latest insurance information and we are happy to help you check the parameters of your coverage, such as annual maximums, frequencies, renewal dates, and other limitations. Remember, your dental benefits are intended to help cover some but not all of the cost of your dental care.
Do you offer direct billing?
Yes we do! Chinook Smiles is an assignment office, so we will bill your insurance carriers directly on your behalf.
Will I be exposed to any x-ray radiation from the scanner?
No, the Primescan does not produce any radiation.
Can all restorations be made with CEREC?
CEREC technology can only fabricate ceramic restorations. The vast majority of restorations for back teeth can be made with CEREC if ceramic is deemed to be the optimal material of choice. Your Chinook Smiles dentist will always perform an exam to assess your unique condition and needs, and discuss the best course of treatment with you.
Will my insurance cover a CEREC restoration?
Your insurance coverage will not differ for a CEREC restoration. For instance, if your coverage is 50% for a regular crown, the CEREC crown will also be reimbursed at 50%.
Does a CEREC restoration cost more?
No! At Chinook Smiles we are committed to offering our patient superior services and experiences. We do not charge extra for CEREC restorations; the dentist fee is the same as for regular crowns/restorations, and the lab fee is on par with market rates charged by third party labs.
