Their FAQ
Answers from their website.
What is the most common reason for gum pain?
The most common cause is gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease. It's caused by plaque buildup leading to inflammation, making gums red, swollen, tender, and prone to bleeding during brushing or flossing.
Can brushing too hard make my gums hurt?
Yes. Using a hard-bristled toothbrush or brushing too vigorously can damage and wear away gum tissue, leading to recession, increased sensitivity, and pain. We recommend using a soft-bristled brush and gentle, circular motions.
Why do my gums hurt in one specific spot?
Localized gum pain can be caused by food trapped under the gums, a canker sore, an abscess beginning to form, or trauma from hard or sharp food. It's important to floss gently in the area and monitor it. If pain persists or worsens, see a dentist.
When should I see a dentist about gum pain?
You should schedule a dental visit if gum pain lasts more than a few days, is severe, or is accompanied by symptoms like persistent bleeding, significant swelling, pus, loose teeth, or receding gums. These could indicate an infection or advanced gum disease.
What can I do at home for immediate gum pain relief?
For temporary relief, you can rinse your mouth with a warm saltwater solution (1/2 tsp salt in a glass of warm water) to reduce inflammation. Over-the-counter pain relievers, avoiding spicy/acidic foods near the sore area, and using a softer toothbrush can also help until you get professional care.
What Veneers Can Do That Other Options Cannot
Whitening alone changes only color, not shape or length. Orthodontics changes position but takes months or years. Bonding addresses individual chips but can wear and stain. Veneers adjust color, minor shape, small rotations, length, symmetry, and translucency in as few visits as other single-option treatments. Veneers are particularly popular for front teeth with deep internal stains (intrinsic discoloration that whitening cannot fix), old fillings that show dark lines at the margins, enamel worn from grinding or acid reflux, teeth that appear short or aged, and teeth with uneven edges or slight crowding that’s primarily a cosmetic concern. For many patients, veneers allow the achievement of comprehensive smile goals in fewer visits than combining whitening, bonding, and orthodontics. This efficiency appeals to busy professionals and patients with specific aesthetic goals.
When Other Options Might Be Better
For some patients, conservative options like Dental Bonding (for single small chips) or Professional Whitening (for overall color improvement) will be sufficient and more affordable. For teeth with large cracks or structural problems, a Crown provides better protection than a veneer. We honestly review every option so you can choose with complete confidence, knowing you’re investing in the proper treatment for your specific smile.
Can stress cause tooth pain?
Stress increases jaw clenching and teeth grinding, which places excess pressure on teeth and jaw joints. This pressure irritates nerves and muscles, leading to soreness, sensitivity, and aching tooth pain, even without visible dental damage.
