Their FAQ
Answers from their website.
How soon after a root canal do I need a crown?
Most dentists recommend placing the permanent crown within a few weeks of completing the root canal. A temporary filling protects the tooth in the short term, but it is not meant for long-term use. Delaying the crown increases the risk of tooth fracture or reinfection.
Does getting a crown after a root canal hurt?
The crown preparation appointment is performed with local anesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some mild soreness around the gum tissue is normal for a day or two afterward. Over-the-counter pain relievers typically manage any discomfort comfortably.
Can my tooth break without a crown after a root canal?
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons root canal teeth are eventually lost. Without a crown, the brittle tooth structure is highly vulnerable to vertical fractures under chewing pressure. A fractured root often cannot be repaired, making extraction the only remaining option.
What type of crown is best after a root canal?
Porcelain-fused-to-metal and all-ceramic crowns are popular choices because they mimic natural tooth appearance. For back molars, a zirconia crown offers excellent durability under heavy chewing forces. Dr. Nsair will recommend the best material based on the tooth's location and your individual needs.
Will my crown look natural?
Modern dental crowns are designed to closely match the colour, shape, and size of your surrounding teeth. Dr. Hussien Nsair takes careful impressions and colour matches to ensure a seamless result. Most patients find their crowned tooth is virtually indistinguishable from their natural teeth.
How long before my date should I get a cleaning?
Ideally, schedule your appointment 2 to 4 days before your event. This allows any slight gum sensitivity from the cleaning to subside while ensuring your breath and smile are at their absolute peak.
Can a cleaning fix "morning breath" permanently?
While a cleaning significantly reduces the bacterial load, morning breath is usually caused by reduced saliva flow during sleep. However, after a professional visit, with less plaque and tartar in your mouth, the intensity of morning breath is often much lower.
Will a professional cleaning make my teeth whiter, too?
Yes! The polishing stage of a hygiene visit removes surface stains from coffee, tea, and red wine. While it isn't a chemical whitening treatment, most patients notice their smile looks significantly brighter and more "polished" immediately afterward.
