The exact cost of a dental cleaning will vary from person to person. In Ontario, a routine cleaning will typically start at $150. The factors that will affect the fee are the amount of buildup of tartar or gum disease present, and whether deeper cleaning (scaling/root planing) is needed. Things like Xrays, fluoride or polishing are additional costs.

We like to recommend a schedule that is tailored specifically to your oral health needs. Most people benefit from visiting the dentist and having their teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months. Some people will require more frequent visits due to gum disease, buildup of tartar very quickly or being more cavity prone. Others, with excellent oral health and low risk for dental problems may only need to come in every 9-12 months.

The prescription of dental x-rays is tailored to the specific needs of each patient, based on risk factors and symptoms. It is typically recommended that adults have x-rays every 1-2 years. Those with higher risk factors, like gum disease, high cavity risk or a history of extensive dental work may need x-rays more frequently. Modern digital x-rays use very low radiation doses. We always abide by the ALARA principle- “As Low as Reasonably Achievable” meaning we only take x-rays when they are clinically useful, avoid unnecessary repeat images, and use the lowest effective radiation dose.

Yes. Our office accepts patients covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Coverage amounts and eligible treatments are determined by the plan and may vary depending on your income and treatment required. Please note that not all services are fully covered and you will be responsible for costs not covered by the plan. If you are unsure about your eligibility or coverage we will be happy to help guide you through the process.

Yes, we work with dental insurance providers and are happy to help you use your benefits. In most cases, we will submit claims to your insurance provider and you will be reimbursed by your insurance company.

Your first visit is designed to get a complete picture of your oral health and understand your needs and goals. This will include a review of your medical history and past dental work. A complete oral exam will look at your teeth (for cavities, cracks, wear), your gums (for signs of gingivitis or gum disease), your bite and jaw alignment, and soft tissues (cheeks, tongue, palate) to screen for abnormalities. We will take an intra-oral scan of your mouth so you can get a full picture of your teeth and gums. X-rays will be taken as needed to help diagnose areas that are not visible during the exam, such as between the teeth and below the gum. We will discuss our findings with you and answer any questions you have, and come up with personalized treatment options.

Yes. We will accommodate same day dental emergencies. Tooth pain, swelling, broken teeth or infections are prioritized so you can get out of discomfort quickly.
