Their FAQ
Answers from their website.
Does Smilo Family Dental accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
Yes. Smilo Family Dental is a participating CDCP provider in London, Ontario, and we bill the plan directly, so you won’t pay the full cost up front or chase reimbursement yourself.
How much does the CDCP pay?
It depends on your adjusted family net income. Under $70,000 the plan covers 100% of its established fees. Between $70,000 and $79,999 it covers 60% and you pay 40%. Between $80,000 and $89,999 it covers 40% and you pay 60%.
Can I still owe money if I am covered by the CDCP?
Possibly. You may have a co-payment based on your income, and the plan’s established fees are not always the same as a provider’s usual fees — where they differ, the difference is payable to the provider. Services the plan doesn’t cover are also payable directly. We give you every cost in writing before you agree to treatment.
Does having a workplace dental plan stop me qualifying for the CDCP?
Yes. Access to dental coverage through work, a pension, a family member’s plan, or a professional or student organization makes you ineligible — even if you have never used it, chose not to enrol, pay a premium for it, or it does not cover the full cost. Coverage through a provincial, territorial or federal social program does not disqualify you.
Can I come if I’m not already a patient?
Yes. You don’t need to be an existing patient to be seen in an emergency, and there’s no registration to complete first. Call or text and we’ll fit the paperwork around the appointment rather than ahead of it.
Should I call first, or just come in?
Call or text before you set off. It lets us hear what’s happening, work out how urgent it is, and have a slot and the right room ready when you arrive. Arriving unannounced usually means waiting while we make space.
How quickly can I be seen?
Often the same day, and the earlier you call the better — first thing in the morning gives us the most room to work with. If the day is genuinely full we’ll say so straight away rather than leave you waiting, talk you through first aid over the phone, and get you in the next morning.
Do you see children for dental emergencies?
Yes, we see patients of every age. One thing worth knowing about a knocked-out baby tooth: don’t try to put it back in. Unlike an adult tooth, reseating a baby tooth risks damaging the permanent tooth forming behind it. Keep your child comfortable, bring the tooth with you if you have it, and call us.
