General Dentist Dr. Omid Shafiey earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degree from the University of Tabriz in 1997 and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D) from the University of British Columbia in 2010. He is interested in all aspects of dentistry, in particular how dentistry can affect a patient's comfort and experience. Dr. Shafiey is perhaps best acknowledged for his ability to promote proper dental care and hygiene by allaying patient's dental-related fears and anxieties. General Dentist Dr. Zhang is a well-known expert in the field given both his extensive international education and his experience at Sierra Dental in Calgary, Alberta. Dr. Zhang received his undergraduate and masters degree in dentistry and oral surgery in China, where he practiced as an oral surgeon for five years before moving to Canada. He continued his studies at UBC where he received his PhD in Oral Health Sciences (2000) as well as an additional degree at the University of Alberta in 2005! He has been practicing dentistry since 2002 when he graduated from Guilan University’s Dental program, he practiced dentistry for two years and then started his 3 years postgraduate degree in Prosthodontics. He earned his certificate of National Dental Examination Board of Canada in 2013. He also completed various advanced level of implant dentistry (ICOI Fellowship) and served as Assistant Professor at Azad Dental University of Tehran. General Dentist Dr. Fatemeh Mortazavi Alavi completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Concordia University and obtained her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from McGill University in 2020. She started working as a General Dentist in Toronto in 2020 and eventually moved to Vancouver. She is a member of the college of dental surgeons of BC (CDSBC) and the British Columbia dental association (BCDA). She is fluent in English and Farsi. Her dental philosophy is centered around quality care that relies on patient education, open communication. She enjoys working with all patients, especially kids, and uses her gentle personality to help ease dental anxiety. Outside of the office, she enjoys hiking, cooking and watching documentaries.
