Dr. Lok has always had a passion for dentistry. Some of his hobbies include military history, searching for new restaurants and tasting menus to try, auto racing, and anything fast car-related. Dr. Lok has always wanted to become a dentist. When David was younger, his father encouraged a young David into healthcare and away from the family banking business. Their FAQ
Answers from their website.
How quickly can you see me for a dental emergency?
We prioritize emergency cases and see most patients the same day, typically within 1-2 hours. Call (647) 483-6906 immediately when you experience a dental emergency. We've handled thousands of urgent cases over 48 years, we know time matters.
What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?
Call us immediately, you have a 60-minute window to save it. Rinse gently (don't scrub), place back in socket if possible, or store in milk. Hold it by the crown (top), never the root. Get to us within 30-60 minutes for the best chance of saving your tooth.
Will my insurance cover emergency treatment?
Most dental insurance plans cover emergency treatments at 50-80%. CDCP covers emergency dental services, with coverage depending on the specific treatment provided (examinations, extractions, restorative work, etc.). We verify your coverage during your visit and discuss payment options. Emergency care now prevents more expensive treatment later.
Do you have weekend or evening emergency appointments?
We prioritize emergency cases during business hours and make every effort to accommodate urgent situations. Call (647) 483-6906 and follow the instructions for after-hours emergencies. For life-threatening situations, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
Emergency visits typically range from $150-$500 depending on the treatment needed. This is significantly less than delayed treatment requiring extraction + implant ($4,000-$7,000). We provide cost estimates before treatment and work with your insurance to maximize coverage.
How do I choose the right dentist for me and my family?
Consider location, office hours, services offered, and the dentist's experience and qualifications. Look for online reviews and ask for recommendations from friends and family. Our dental office provides comprehensive dental care for patients of all ages.
What services does your dental office offer?
We offer routine check-ups and cleanings, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, restorative treatments, dental implants, teeth whitening, and root canal therapy.
Do you have a Cantonese or Mandarin speaking dentist?
Yes. Dr. David Lok consults directly in Cantonese and English, and Elizabeth speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese, so you can describe symptoms, ask questions, and review treatment plans in your own language. Eufemia speaks Tagalog and English. Many patients from Toronto's Chinese community have trusted our Bay Street practice for decades.
