Their FAQ

Answers from their website.

What is sedation dentistry in Kitsilano?

It’s a way to help nervous patients stay calm during dental treatment using safe medications. At Broadway Smiles, we offer multiple options to fit your needs.

Is sedation dentistry near you safe?

Yes! We use FDA-approved methods and monitor your heart rate, oxygen, and breathing the whole time. Your safety is our top priority.

Will I be asleep during sedation for dental anxiety?

Not usually. You will be awake but extremely relaxed if you use oral sedation or nitrous oxide.

After sedation dentistry, is it safe for me to drive myself home?

With nitrous oxide (laughing gas), yes — it wears off fast. But with oral sedation, you’ll need someone to drive you home.

How long does the sedation last?

It depends on the type. Laughing gas stops working in minutes. Oral sedation can last a few hours. We’ll give you full aftercare instructions.

What is regarded as a dental emergency?

A dental problem that threatens to damage the teeth permanently is also considered an emergency. Some instances are a toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, and an infection.

How soon should you go for emergency dentistry?

Please contact us as soon as you can. A knocked-out tooth requires treatment within 30–60 minutes to increase the chances of saving it.

Will you help with dental emergencies that take place outside of your regular business hours?

While we do have our standard working hours, we do our best to accommodate any urgent cases, so you will be able to call us, and our staff will be able to provide the next steps.
