Dentist, Founder of Modern Dental Dr. Steven Tsoung is the founder of Modern Dental and a senior general dentist. Nicknamed the “super GP”, he is very experienced in many disciplines of dentistry, including operative dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, LANAP, and implantology. Friendly and excellent at problem solving, Dr. Steven is a true professional who inspires confidence in both his staff and his patients.

Dentist, Endodontics Specialist Dr. Esther Chen obtained her dental degree from the University of British Columbia. Upon completion of her dental training, Dr. Chen moved to NYC and did general practice residencies at NYU Lutheran Medical Center, and Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Chen then obtained the Master of Science in Dentistry and Diploma in Endodontics from the University of Washington. Dr. Chen is a certified specialist and is a Fellow of Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Before returning to Vancouver, Dr. Chen worked in the San Francisco Bay area and New York. Dr. Chen practices full scope of endodontics. She offers services such as root canal therapies, endodontic microsurgeries, and the management of dental traumas. Dentist Dr. Jenny Weng believes a healthy body starts with a confident healthy smile. Using minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Weng transforms smiles while improving your bite. Dr. Weng grew up in Vancouver and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University with honours in Prosthodontics. Dr. Weng was selected to complete her residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York where she received further training in implantology and pediatric dentistry. She also practiced in Los Angeles before moving back to Vancouver. Her caring and attentive communication creates a relaxed environment for patients of all ages. She has created meaningful relationships with patients throughout her career as she always provides the highest level of care patients deserve.

Dentist Dr. Thomas Tsoung earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery with honours from the New York University College of Dentistry. He is committed to an integrated, evidence-based approach to dental care—one that not only treats immediate concerns but also identifies and addresses their root causes. Dr. Thomas collaborates closely with his patients to develop personalised treatment plans that achieve optimal, lasting results. He has a strong interest in periodontology and implant dentistry, and continually pursues advanced education to maintain and exceed a high standard of care. He has also completed additional training in implantology and oral surgery through the Advanced Clinical Fellowship Program in Implantology at New York University College of Dentistry.

Dentist Dr. Brian Tsoung is a graduate from Johns Hopkins University’s public health program and the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree with honours. Dr. Brian believes in a cohesive, evidence-based approach to dentistry that seeks to address not only the presenting symptoms, but also the underlying causes. His goal is to work together with his patients to create a tailored treatment plan to give them the excellent results they desire. Dr. Brian has a keen interest in prosthodontics, endodontics, and implant dentistry, and is continually taking classes and studying to elevate his high standard of care.

Dentist Dr. Yen Ting (Tim) Lin graduated from Taipei Medical University and received his Degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2005. He passed the qualifying process from The National Dental Examination Board of Canada and became licensed in 2016. He has 10 years of experience in private practice settings; 5 years in Taiwan and another 5 years with Modern Dental. In these roles, he has conducted comprehensive, periodic, and emergency examination, diagnose patients' conditions, and presented comprehensive treatment plans. He has been more interested in full mouth reconstructions and dental implant treatment in recent years. He speaks English, Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Dentist Dr. Abel Lu attained his combined Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from UBC in 1999. He is board certified in both Canada and the United States with over 20 years of clinical experience. Dr. Lu enjoys practicing in all aspects of dentistry and has a special interest in improving your smile with Invisalign. He spends his time learning the most updated techniques and technology in order to provide the most effective and efficient treatment for patients of all ages. Dr. Lu is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. He is praised for his gentle and patient manner which allow his patients to feel comfortable and cared for.

Dentist Dr. Allen Hsien graduated from the University of Sydney Faculty of Dentistry. After working in Australia for a few years, he decided to reunite with his family in Vancouver. Dr. Allen enjoys all aspects of dentistry with special interests in Invisalign and traditional braces. Dentist Dr. Paula Hsien graduated from the University of Toronto, the faculty of Dentistry with Honours, and returned to her hometown of Vancouver to practice. With a strong basis in evidence-based dentistry and a constant pursuit of innovative techniques and continuing education, Dr. Paula enjoys all aspects of dentistry but has a special interest in surgery.
