I was born and raised in Winnipeg – the oldest of five kids. My father was an orthodontist – Dr. William F. Campbell, or “Bill,” with his office at the Medical Arts Building. I started my education at the wonderful University of Winnipeg, and then on to dentistry at the University of Manitoba. After I graduated from dentistry, I spent a year working as the pediatric dental intern at The Winnipeg Children’s Hospital, working with and learning from the great Dr. Howard Cross. I remained at the University of Manitoba for my post-graduate training and Master of Science in orthodontics and human growth and development. While traditional orthodontic treatments often rely on expansion appliances, Dr. John Campbell takes a gentler approach, especially for children ages 6 to 10. Instead of using the typical expansion appliances, we use our GLAD (Gentle Lateral Arch Development) technique. This non-invasive, pain-free approach to straightening the teeth helps create more space for permanent teeth. It's comfortable, effective, and offers great results while avoiding the need for more intensive orthodontic treatments later on. This technique doesn't require the heavy pressure often associated with other appliances and is designed to be more comfortable for young patients. We also use gentle wires to help achieve the desired results without the need for painful or intrusive expansion devices.
