Wisdom teeth can become impacted and create serious discomfort and impact bite strength and tension. They often need to be extracted to prevent tooth crowding or to help prevent future problems. Once wisdom teeth have erupted, they are more prone to infection and decay, and can cause problems with adjacent teeth as well.
