What Are the Post-Operative Instructions After a Tooth Extraction?
You should place pressure on the gauze pad covering the extraction site for 15-20 minutes. If bleeding continues, apply new gauze and pressure for and additional 20 minutes. Do not eat or drink hot beverages after surgery for 2 hours. Do not smoke after extraction, it is negatively affecting healing process, creating a risk for postoperative complications (dry socket). Do not rinse your mouth for 24 hours! Do not use a straw. Do not spit.Do not brush your teeth on the day of the surgery. Then resume normal home care, gently brushing and flossing. Some bruising, swelling, and pain are normal after extraction. Pain and swelling decrease after 3 days. Consult with your dentist regarding the pain control. Stay on a soft diet such as soups, milkshakes, fruit juice, and yogurt, scrambled egg for at least 24 hours. Do not bite your lips, cheeks, or scrape your gums. Children should be watched c…

Yes, patients under 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian, especially for assistance with medical forms and making treatment decisions. It's also important to inform us about any medical conditions or medications that could affect dental treatment.
What should I bring to my consultation?
