General Dentist Dr. Christopher Zed is a lifelong practitioner of dental healthcare, totaling more than 25 years of experience within the field. His range of experience spans from chief of dentistry at the Vancouver General Hospital, to a professorship at the University of British Columbia, and even to a brief role as the Olympic Chief of Dentistry during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. His work in the field has been underpinned by his own personal research and writing, which has largely focused on topics such as oral cancer and community dentistry. Today his primary work is as dental surgeon and owner of Bayview Lonsdale Dental. He believes in patient centered care which strives for thoughtful and compassionate behavior. Outside of his work he is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, fishing, and other active hobbies.

General Dentist Dr. Mojhdeh MalekSabet graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2013 in Iran. Following graduation, she worked as a general dentist for four years in both public and private dental clinics in Iran. Dr. Malek then moved to Canada and successfully completed the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB) exam. In 2022, she obtained her Canadian license with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC and joined the Canadian Dental Association. Dr. Malek has a strong interest in all aspects of dentistry, including cosmetic, restorative, clear aligners (including Invisalign), root canal therapy, veneers, crowns, and bridges. Dr. Malek is passionate about providing comfortable dental treatment, and she believes that communication and connecting with her patients play a key role in helping to alleviate any fear of dentistry. What's the difference between a permanent bridge, a semi-permanent bridge and a partial denture?
Dentures are removable orthodontic devices worn during the day and removed at night for sleeping. A bridge is attached in a permanent or semi-permanent way with cement and is not removed for sleeping or eating.
What materials are used for dental bridges?
Bridges can be made in porcelain, ceramic, metals, or a combination of more than one material to deliver sturdy and aesthetically pleasing designs.
How long does the procedure take?
You are looking at least two appointments that last about an hour or less each visit. The first will take the necessary measurements for your dental bridge and leave you with a temporary bridge. The follow-up visit will be to remove the temporary bridge and place the permanent, custom-made one.
What is the difference between dental bridges and crowns?
A dental crown is a cap that completely covers the tooth to hide damage from chips, breaks, or wear and tear. A bridge is a prosthetic created to fill the gap left behind by missing teeth.
How long will veneers last?
Dental veneers’ lifespan will vary between patients, health care, and the material of the veneer itself. Porcelain veneers offer the best longevity, lasting anywhere from 10-20 years when properly cared for. Composite and resin veneers have a shorter span of 5-7 years.
Do veneers ruin your teeth?
No. They fit over the teeth and bond to the enamel. There is no alteration to the tooth or root.
Can you remove dental veneers?
No, porcelain veneers are cemented to your teeth so you cannot take them off alone, but your dentist can safely remove them in the office.
Does getting veneers hurt?
No real pain is experienced as we use local anesthesia to numb the involved area.
