Common questions

Will I pay anything at the dentist?

You might. Depending on your family income, you may pay 0%, 40% or 60% of the plan’s fee, and some dentists charge more than the plan pays. Ask what you’ll owe before treatment.

Can I pay myself and claim it back?

No. The dentist bills the plan directly (Sun Life runs it for the government). If you pay the full cost yourself, you won’t get the money back.

My dentist isn’t listed here. Do they take the plan?

They might. Many dentists take the plan without saying so on their website, so call and ask.
