Do you accept the Canada Dental Care Plan?
Yes. We accept the CDCP as well as most major Canadian insurance plans, including refugee coverage, and we bill your insurer directly. Bring your member number to your first visit.
How often should I visit the dentist?
Every six months is the usual default, but it should be tailored to you. With healthy gums, no active decay, and little tartar build-up, once a year is often enough. If you have gum disease, smoke, have diabetes, or build tartar quickly, every three to four months is better.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
Call our emergency line on (604) 441-1996. If a tooth has been knocked out, pick it up by the crown, never the root, and keep it in milk or your own saliva, and get to us within the hour if you can.
Which languages do you speak at the clinic?
Dr. Farhad Goshtasby Ardekani speaks both English and Farsi, and several members of the team are bilingual. Tell us your preference when you book.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
No. Brighter Smile is a general practice and you can book directly, including for treatments that are often referred elsewhere, our dentists have advanced training in root canal therapy, gum care, and implants.
What does treatment cost?
It depends entirely on what you need, so we assess first and give you a written estimate before anything is booked. We also check what your CDCP or private insurance covers, so the figure you see is what you would actually pay.
Can I be seen the same day if I'm in pain?
We do our best to see genuine emergencies the same day. Call the emergency line on (604) 441-1996 rather than emailing, the phone gets you an answer fastest, and we can tell you what to do while you're on your way.
Do you treat children?
Yes. We see children for check-ups, cleanings, fluoride, and sealants, so the whole family can be seen in one place on the same visit where that suits you.
