How long do dental implants last?
With good home care and regular cleanings, dental implants routinely last 20+ years. The crown on top may need replacement sooner — 10 to 15 years is typical.
Does getting a dental implant hurt?
Placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients describe it as easier than a wisdom-tooth extraction. Soreness for 2 to 3 days afterward is normal and is usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
Will dental insurance in BC cover an implant?
Many BC dental plans cover a percentage of implant treatment under major restorative. Family Tree Dental submits a pre-authorization to your insurer and bills directly so you only pay your portion.
Can I get a dental implant the same day a tooth is removed?
Sometimes — this is called an immediate implant. Whether it is right for you depends on the bone and gum around the tooth, which is assessed at the consultation.
Do you place and restore implants in-house?
Yes — Family Tree Dental performs the entire implant process, including consultation, placement, and final crown, at the Steveston clinic in Richmond, BC.
Does a teeth cleaning hurt?
For most people, no — it is a vibration and a slight cool-water feeling. If your gums are sensitive or it has been a while since your last cleaning, your hygienist can use a topical numbing gel or freeze the area entirely.
