GZ Dr. Ghazala Zaid, DMD Principal dentist — orthodontics & comprehensive care Dr. Ghazala Zaid, DMD, is the principal dentist at Midland Dental Center. She earned her dental degree at Penn Dental Medicine and leads the practice with a strong interest in braces, orthodontic treatment, and comprehensive dentistry for patients of every age. Her approach centers on listening first: understanding what a patient wants from their smile and their care before recommending a plan, and explaining every option clearly enough that the decision always feels like the patient's own. Dr. Zaid is especially attentive to patients who feel nervous about the dentist or who are returning to care after time away. She believes a judgment-free visit is the foundation of good dentistry — that patients do their best when they feel heard rather than lectured, and that trust is built one honest conversation at…

Their FAQ

Answers from their website.

Where exactly is the clinic?

We're at 2480 Eglinton Avenue East — the corner of Midland Avenue and Eglinton — inside the Dollarama plaza, with parking at the door. TTC buses along Eglinton stop at Midland Avenue, and both Kennedy subway station and the Eglinton GO station on the Stouffville line are a short ride away, which makes us easy to reach from across Scarborough and beyond.

Can you see me the same day for a dental emergency?

We keep room in the schedule for urgent problems and do our best to see emergencies the same day. If you have a broken or knocked-out tooth, swelling, or pain that's getting worse, call us as early as you can and we'll prioritize you. If phone lines are busy, sending an appointment request marked as an emergency lets us call you straight back.

What makes Midland Dental Center different?

Three things, honestly: a boutique clinic built around up-to-date equipment, a team that treats every patient the way we'd want to be treated ourselves, and an explain-first habit — you'll always understand what we see and why we're recommending something before anything begins. We'd rather build a relationship that lasts decades than rush anyone through a chair.

Do you treat children?

Yes — families are the heart of the practice. Children are seen gently and without hurry: we use simple words, let them settle in at their own pace, and treat a calm, positive first visit as a win in itself. Parents and kids can often be booked together so a family checkup takes one trip instead of three.

Do you take insurance and CDCP?

We work with most dental insurance plans and are glad to help you understand your coverage before treatment starts, including submitting claims on your behalf where your plan allows. We also welcome patients covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Bring your details along — or tell us when you book — and our front desk will walk you through exactly how your coverage applies.

I'm nervous about the dentist. Will that be a problem?

Not here. A lot of our patients arrive nervous, and our whole approach is built for it: no lectures about how long it's been, no judgment, a slower pace when you need one, and clear explanations before every step. Tell us how you're feeling when you book and we'll plan the visit around your comfort rather than a stopwatch.

Is the online form a confirmed booking?

Not quite — it's a request. Once it reaches us, a member of our team calls you back to confirm an exact date and time, answer questions, and make sure the right dentist and enough time are set aside for what you need. If something is urgent right now, calling the office directly is always the fastest route to being seen.

How does Dr. Zaman handle a child's very first dental visit?

Gently, and without an agenda beyond comfort. She lets the child settle into the room, shows them the tools in simple, friendly terms, and does only as much examining as the child is ready for. Parents stay close throughout. The measure of success is a child who leaves happy to come back, because that willingness is what makes every future visit — and a lifetime of dental health — dramatically easier. Any clinical ground not covered simply waits for next time.
