What ages do you provide dental care for?
Oak Street Dental cares for patients of every age and ability, from a baby's first checkup through to senior dental care. Every stage of life is welcome, and the care you receive is matched to the stage you're at.
Is your dental office accessible?
Yes, Oak Street Dental is an accessible dental office. The parking lot offers marked accessible parking with ramp access to the building, and your treatment room is on the ground level with no stairs to navigate. Our staff are also trained to support neurodivergent patients and those with special needs. Note any requirements when you book your appointment, and your visit will be arranged around them.
What makes your new patient exam different?
Your new patient exam combines a full assessment of your teeth, gums, and bite with 3D digital scanning, digital X-rays, and intra-oral photography that let you see your mouth exactly as your dentist does. You will get a full explanation about the findings from your dentist. Many patients say it's the most interesting and informative dental appointment they've ever had.
Do I need to transfer records from my old dentist?
Your records are requested and transferred for you, so there's no effort needed on your part. Just share your previous dentist's name and contact details, and we will handle the rest. If you don't have a previous dentist, that's completely fine.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your dental insurance details if you have coverage, and your previous dentist's contact information so your records can be transferred on your behalf. Arriving 10 minutes early gives you time to fill out your intake form in the office, or you can complete the new patient intake form online before your appointment.
I haven't been to a dentist in years. Will I be judged?
No. Returning after a long break is common, and your care is judgment-free. Appointments are structured to rebuild your confidence gradually and without pressure, with extra patience and reassurance so you can ease back into regular care.
Do you offer direct billing to insurance?
Yes. Direct billing is available on most dental insurance plans, so in many cases you only pay your portion at the visit. Bring your insurance details so your claim can be submitted for you. Claims are often resolved within minutes while you're still in the office.
Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
Yes. Oak Street Dental accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). The plan is now open to Canadian residents of all ages who don't have access to private dental insurance (other conditions apply).
