Their FAQ

Answers from their website.

Who is eligible for the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

You may qualify for the CDCP if you do not have access to dental insurance through work, school, or private purchase, and you filed a Canadian tax return for the previous year. Your adjusted family net income must be under $90,000, and you must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes. If you have coverage through a government social program, you may still qualify, as the CDCP can coordinate benefits to avoid duplication.

How much does the CDCP cover for denture services?

CDCP coverage depends on your adjusted family net income and is based on CDCP fee rates, which may differ from clinic fees. If your income is under $70,000, the plan may cover 100% of eligible services at CDCP rates. Higher income ranges may require a co-payment, and you may also be responsible for fees above CDCP rates. Always confirm coverage and costs with our office before starting treatment.

What denture services are covered under the CDCP?

The CDCP covers a broad range of denture-related services when recommended by a licensed denturist. This may include complete dentures, partial dentures, repairs, relines, rebases, and tissue conditioning for comfort and healing. Some treatments, such as partial dentures and immediate or overdentures, may require preauthorization before treatment begins. Our team can help you confirm what applies to your situation.

Are implant-supported dentures covered under the CDCP?

No. Implant-supported or implant-retained dentures are not covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). If you are considering implant-related options, our team can explain available alternatives and review expected costs with you. It’s also important to confirm whether other denture services require preauthorization or may result in out-of-pocket expenses. Coverage may vary based on eligibility and CDCP rates.

What happens after I’m approved for the CDCP?

Once approved, you will receive a letter with your CDCP Member ID, benefit start date, and co-payment level. You will also receive a member card from Sun Life, which you will need when accessing benefits. Appointments must be booked on or after your benefit start date, and some denture services may still require preauthorization before treatment is started. Our team can help you understand the next steps for booking your care.

Can cracked dentures be repaired?

Many cracked dentures can be repaired, but the result depends on the crack, material, age and fit. The denture must be examined before we can confirm whether repair is suitable or replacement is recommended.

Can dentures be repaired on the same day?

A same-day denture repair may be available for qualifying cases booked early in the day. Completion time depends on the damage, materials, appointment availability and whether laboratory support is required.

How long does a denture repair take?

Repair time depends on the type and extent of damage. Simple repairs may be completed quickly, while complex fractures, metal components or extensive damage may require more time or laboratory support.
