Bio Dr. Shaun Brakstad Dr. Brakstad graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College of Dentistry in 1993. Shaun has worked at Westend Dental since 1993 and became the owner of the clinic in 1994. He has been a clinical instructor at the College of Dentistry, University of Saskatchewan since 1994, currently teaching dental implants to the students. Shaun has completed many comprehensive additional courses in Implants, CEREC, iTERO, and Orthodontics. Shaun maintains a general dentistry practice as well as oral surgery, implantology, orthodontics (brackets and Invisalign). Away from the clinic Shaun loves spending time outside golfing, fishing, hunting, quadding, lake time in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter.

Bio Dr. Robb Penkala Dr. Penkala graduated from the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan in 1994. He has practiced at Westend Dental ever since. Robb has taken comprehensive additional training in othodontics, and is Cerac, Itero, and Invisalign certified. He maintains a general dentistry practice that includes orthodontics, crown and bridge, endodontics, oral surgery and restorations of dental implants. Away from the office Robb is active in Tae Kwon Do, hockey and snowmobiling. He enjoys traveling and snow boarding with his family. They are avid outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy spending time at the lake fishing and exploring the surrounding wilderness.

Bio Dr. Ryan Turple Dr. Turple was born and raised in Saskatoon where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Pharmacology at the U of S, and then graduated from the College of Dentistry in 2020. Ryan enjoys all aspects of dentistry, particularly restorative dentistry, endodontics and oral surgery. Away from the office Ryan has many hobbies, especially anything involving the outdoors. His favorite is fishing, either in the boat or on the ice. He currently plays flag and touch football, but back in his glory days he won 4 National Championships with the Saskatoon Hilltops. Fun fact about Ryan - while growing up he was a patient at Westend Dental!

Bio Dr. Karl Martin Dr. Martin began his career at Westend Dental in 2009 after graduating from the University of Saskathewan. In 2010, he traveled to South America with the volunteer dental group "Kindness in Action" to provide pro-bono dental treatment to children in Guatemalan orphanages. He has served as a part-time clinical instructor at the College of Dentistry since 2009, is a member of the E. E. Ambrose Operative Dentistry study club, and Saskatoon Dental Society. When Dr. Martin is not at the office or university, he enjoys spending time at the lake, cooking, and traveling.
